7D - The Complete Athlete Development Program

Long-Term Athlete Development programs use science to benefit from windows of trainability and opportunity to allow athletes to maximize their athletic potential and to succeed in their chosen sport.

In order to achieve this level of performance, there are 7 key dimensions for the athlete to develop. The human body moves in 3 dimensions - linear, lateral, and vertical planes using force over time, by using energy and information to guide and execute actions in order to perform and achieve the individual’s goals.

These dimensions are all given attention according to growth, maturation and psychosocial development:

Linear movement (speed)

Lateral movement (change of direction)

Vertical movement (plyometrics)

Force (physical strength)

Energy (nutrition and energy systems)

Information & Experience (mental ability, learning how to train and compete)

Time (sequencing, periodization, growth and maturation)
